Recession May Be Driving Students To Online Colleges

As the unemployment rate continues to soar, more and more people are choosing their computer screens over traditional classrooms. The biggest factor in this decision may simply be convenience. You don't have to leave the house to attend class and you can study morning, noon, or night. This is especially helpful for those with familial obligations.

Many people want to increase their skill level or get the degree they need for career advancement. Online learning makes this endeavor more feasible. According to the Sloan Consortium, over 20 percent of all U.S. students enrolled in higher education were taking at least one online course in the fall of 2007.
